At Radiance we will carry out an initial detailed one to one consultation with you. It provides you with an opportunity to discuss your concerns and expectations. We apply a local anaesthetic numbing cream and let this take effect. Our doctor will then carefully perform the Skinpen microneedling treatment. This appointment will take approximately 45-60 minutes in total.
Skinpen microneedling treatment is very safe to use and are suitable for most men and women. It should be avoided if you have any of the following:
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Roaccutane therapy within the last 6 months
Irritated/inflamed skin in the treatment area (eg very active acne/rosacea)
Current skin infection eg coldsores, fungal, bacterial
(It’s advisable to wait 2 weeks after a cold sore to have Skinpen treatment)
Bleeding disorder
History of keloid scars
Active Skin cancer in that area
Some Auto-immune therapies- speak to us regarding this
Discomfort is minimal. We use a local anaesthetic cream prior to your treatment for comfort.
Results are often seen after just one SkinPen treatment. Depending on the skin concerns you are looking to treat, a minimum of 3 treatments approximately 4-6 weeks apart are advised for optimal results and once completed, results can be seen for 9 – 12 months.
Skinpen treatment is a very safe treatment. All treatment consumables are sterile and disposable.
Post treatment the skin will be red, warm and possibly a little puffy. You will also experience skin tightness. The main redness improves over the following 3-4 hours (almost like a sunburn), and overall redness usually subsides within 24-48 hours. Skin flaking may also occur in the first few days. These are all normal responses.
For the first 24 hours post treatment it is important to use only Lift HG (a light weight water-based gel which will be given to you on the day of your treatment). Avoid make up, spf, cleansers. Avoid exposure to sun. Avoid showering and washing hair. Avoid exercise
After 24 hours, can use Rescue Calming Complex (A tube will be provided to you on the day) along with basic up and basic skin products.
Avoid sweating/high-intensity exercise for 72 hours.
Avoid sun exposure for 72 hours
It is advisable to wait 4-5 days before adding back in any active skin products like Vitamin C, Retinols etc.
It is best to allow 2 weeks in between any skin treatments.
